The Dedication of the Swing Jubilee Community Center and Parish Hall

By The Rev T. Vincent Jang, Deacon

On 12 June 2005, The Rt. Rev. William E. Swing, Episcopal Bishop of the Diocese of California made his Annual Visitation to True Sunshine Church on the occasion of the church's Centennial.  It was also noted that this would be the Bishop's last visit with us before his retirement as the 7th Bishop of California.

The this occasion, we gave thanks to God for all the wonderful work done for the community of Chinatown, San Francisco.  With that a plague was dedicated to honor the first Vicar of True Sunshine, The Rev. Daniel Wu, which is currently being displayed in the church's narthex until it is permanently affixed onto the wall in the same area.

The Jubilee Community Center was renamed the Swing Jubilee Community Center in honor of Bishop Swing's support for the community life of True Sunshine and his support for the Chinese ministries that started a hundred years ago.

A reception followed the bi-lingual Liturgy attended by many who "came home" for the special occasion including those whom we have not seen in quite a while.

A good time was had by all who made this a special day for all of us.  Thanks be to God!
